Foundation for Dystonia Research website by Design is Dead inspires respect

Posted by Luc Malcorps

Emakina’s Design is Dead is known for its ‘off the wall’ innovative design and spectacular communication projects (leading often to equally spectacular results). But the Antwerp based creative gang can also excel in purity and sobre class, when the occasion calls for it.

The Foundation for Dystonia Research has the mission to support groundbreaking research on primary dystonia and dystonia-plus syndromes. It also supports the patients suffering from these chronic and often disabling hyperkinetic movement disorders.

The new website gives the people with dystonia an honest human face and shows them in the light of the dignity they deserve. No beating on large drums by Design is Dead this time, but well-measured small doses of respect and clarity of message.

The site gracefully  introduces the Foundation, its research and funding and explains what dystonic disorders are. The beautiful, sensitive photos of Lieve Blancquaert and the sobre use of design and fonts hit home instantly. Combined with the clear, well structured content, all comes together to form a strong emotinal and rational statement, that says: “Respect”.
