Last week Emakina launched the new website for Belgian musical icon Axelle Red, www.axelle-red.com. Bringing the atmosphere and artistic style of Axelle online was a challenge Emakina gladly accepted. The new site combines a cutting edge design with high functionality and an intuitive navigation.
Visitors can find all Axelle’s albums and singles on the website. You can easily switch between the lyrics, video and playback of the same song without ever stepping out of the atmospheric experience of the artist. The picture section provides a whole new way of viewing pictures : we like to think it’s like opening a box of pictures and spreading them out on a table.
It was a great experience for Emakina to work with a musician. The new website integrates the design of Axelle’s latest album, Sisters and Empathy, into a minimalistic but strong online look and feel. We paid special attention to the functionality of the website : it had to browse as easily as your iPod and allow you to play music and video.
Axelle-red.com was also optimized for search engines. All lyrics pages have a unique URL and can be indexed. This ensures the visibility of the lyrics and artist for search engine users. Finally, the website also features a blog on which Axelle Red writes and interacts with her fans and visitors about her engagements for charity.
Pierre Marcolini is one of the most finest master chocolatiers in the world. He’s also one of the very few to produce his own couverture chocolate, using a blend of personally-selected beans. In collaboration with photographer Xavier Harcq and Art Director Yan Pennor, we modestly tried to translate his talent and his unique approach into his new website. Visit, taste and enjoy.

The new Dexia career portal is a good illustration of the combination between technology skills and creativity that is at the heart of Emakina’s vision. On frontstage: a new central hub where job seekers can access all the open positions in the Dexia group at a European level. Just have a chat with the charming receptionist to discover why Dexia is the right place to apply for your new job. In backstage: a portal entierely implemented on the latest version of Sharepoint (MOSS 2007) that enables our client to manage any piece of content on the website (job ads, news, agenda…)
A fruitful harvest for Emakina Group agencies at the WebAwards 2008 :
- “Outstanding Website” for BrusselsAirlines.com. As online sales account now for 30% in the total turnover of this airline company, we’re quite proud to build and manage this e-commerce website that will get new developments in a near future.
- Also in the “Travel” category, our French colleagues of Groupe Reflect received a “Travel Standard of Excellence” for CityShare. This website can be described as a bespoke cityguide that provides local insights (bars, restaurants…) into cities where the Novotel hotel chain is present. All of these “bunches” are brought and commented by users themselves in a “Web 2.0″ spirit.
- In the “Real Estate” category, Immoweb received a “Real Estate Standard of Excellence”. This distinction highlights the long-term relationship we’ve built over the years with the leading real estate portal in Belgium.
- Last but not least, we won a “Consulting Standard of Excellence” for the new international website of consulting company Krauthammer.
On a side note, Emakina is not the only Belgian company rewarded this year by this award competition: the folks at ContactOffice are the recipients of a “ASP Standard of Excellence” for the new Ajax version of their virtual office. Congrats!
Man is an animal, but he no longer knows it. But there are some who have not forgotten. Some who behave naturally, even when they are caught in the headlights. These individuals are not intimidated. It is time to reawaken our bottled-up instincts and to encourage who and what we fundamentally are. By being spontaneous, respectful and enthusiastic. By being diverse. By putting all that is pure, natural and instinctive back into the human condition.
All of which will positively contribute to our collective survival.
The folks at The Reference have just released the new website of Fluxys, an independent operator of natural gas transmission system in Belgium.
