Awesome things Google Creative Director Ji Lee had to show, in Kortrijk

Dec 9 2009

Ji Lee, a Creative Director at Google, and the brain behind Google Creative Lab, was the highly anticipated keynote speaker on the opening day of Design At Work’s 3-day trade show in Kortrijk (www.designatwork.be).

He started his hour-long talk with some neat examples of personal work (he has worked on some major ad campaigns in his hometown of New York), like creating smart business cards or launching a new museum using the building’s silhouette.

Getyoo launches the Clickey

Nov 19 2009

Getyoo (pronounce Get You) is a free web-based platform allowing people to gather all their social activity on the web.

The novelty of the platform is the Clickey, a wireless key allowing users to connect to people, objects and ‘things’ in real life. In just a click, people can send and receive informations. Clickey is the electronic combination of a business card and an electronic carrier bag for anything you’d want to carry around.

There are also Tags, small stickers containing any info that can be sticked on almost every object! Clickey’s can read Tags and retrieve information linked to them: product details, user’s manuals, videos, websites or personalized offers. The official release will be in a couple of months but the team regularly send invitations to join the Getyoo beta. So don’t hesitate to click, connect & share.

Emakina launches Emakina/Yoga, a new competence centre dedicated to the practice of Yoga

Apr 1 2009

Headed by Benoît Conotte, famous Yogi and previous Business Development Manager, this new competence centre will provide a unique relaxation service offering towards Emakina’s customers.

Brice le Blévennec, CVO of Emakina Group confirms us: “During the latest Digital Marketing First seminar, Emakina Belgium and The Reference provided 2 professional masseuses at their booth which turned out to be an instant hit.
Upon further analysis, it was observed that during those days we succesfully delivered dozens of customer massages, while the number of interactive campaigns and websites sold was effictively zero.
One of Emakina’s strong points has always been to respond quickly to marketing trends as they develop themselves. We have therefore instantly cancelled all our ongoing AJAX trainings and retrained our technical staff in the ancient techniques of Hatha Yoga.”

“With the current economical crisis, our customers are becoming more and more stressed. Emakina has always been preoccupied with putting our customers at ease by offering them relevant custom-made solutions. After launching competence centres like Emakina/Perform (offering a unique integrated solution of Web Analytics and Search Engine Marketing) and Emakina/Media (the first media company specialized into 100% Digital Media Planing and Purchase) we are now launching our newest Competence Center called Emakina/Yoga”, as announced proudly by Denis Steisel, CEO.

John Deprez, CEO of Emakina Belgium, adds “This transition from End-to-End Project Management to End-to-End Customer Management is a logical next step in our corporate strategy: making customers happy. Practically, in order to deliver zero-defect projects next to our Waterfall, Prince2 and Scrum methodologies, we have also added Meditation as a methodology that is now being practiced in large scala Java projects.”

Furthermore, Karim Choukri, responsible for acquisitions and integrations, specifies: “Rather than calling upon offshore services for web development (which is not always ideal for customer facing websites as it introduces quality and communication risks), this time we actually do foresee far reaching partnerships with Indian tribes in the region of Bangalore. This new activity is expected to substantially contribute to the bottom-line of Emakina Group as a whole”

Finally, Brice Le Blévennec concludes: “Another world premier for Emakina! We are the first agency based in Watermael-Boisfort to include this integrated service in the rest of our Full Service Digital Agency offering. To further recognize this new keystone activity, we have enriched our corporate colour set Orange, Blue and Green – that already stood for Creativity, Technology and Business – with the new colours Black and White that will stand for Ying and Yang.

Emakina – your one-stop shop for Creativity, Technology and Business – now with Ying&Yang!

We already explained on this blog how cool it is to work at Emakina. Not only because of the offices or because of the people, but also because of the worker-friendly environment providing basic facilities (banks, supermarkets…) as well as nice leisure places to hang out (parks, bars, restaurants…). This Google map, created and updated by Emakinians themselves, shows the numerous cool locations around our Brussels headquarters. Microsoft has the Redmond campus. Google has the Googleplex in Moutain View. We have the Watermael-Boitsfort neighborhood ;-) .

Verhofstadt III is born…

… and our bet on the Belgian government is de facto over, 9 days before the ultimate deadline. The winner is Baudouin Van Humbeeck (aka Somebaudy in the Belgian blogosphere) who will receive a basket of Belgian beers offered by our agency. Our congrats to this specialist of the blue orange and our special thanks to all the participants who placed a bet over the last… 91 days.

A new Belgian Government within the next 100 days… Gottabet?

Sep 26 2007

You’ve maybe noticed that, since more than 100 days, the current Belgian government is dealing with everyday matters only. So far, the attempts to form a new political coalition have failed. At Emakina, we’re optimistic people and we bet that Belgium will have eventually a new federal government within the next 100 days. Our bet on Gottabet.com (now Bragster.com) will run during 100 days (of course), unless a political deal is reached in the mean time. Once the bet is closed, a winner will be drawn by lot among the players who have guessed the right answer. He or she will get a free pack of Belgian beers carefully selected by our experts. As we’re superstitious people too, there will be no “Mort Subite” (“Sudden Death”) in the basket.

Check out this here to participate to our top topical.

An Interactive Guide to Springfield

Aug 23 2007

If you’re familiar with The Simpsons universe, you probably know this illustrious family lives in the small town of Springfield, located somewhere in the United States. Two fans of the TV series have watched each episode carefully to built an accurate mapping of this imaginary place. Thanks to our designer Adrien Noterdaem, there’s now a Flash-based version that makes the map searchable without any loss of resolution. Check out the result here, it’s really amazing (and already famous in Spain).

By the way, go and see the Simpsons Movie in a theater near you. If you’re an addict of the TV show like us, you will have a lot of fun with the feature-length film.
