Design is Dead goes for bigger and better! Last week, they packed their bags and moved into its new headquarters!. It took them 1926.83 kilos of manpower to move: 124 boxes, 5 and a half aliens, 4 near-dead plants, 52 terrabytes of server capacity, 19 grey mice and much more to our new headquarters.
From now on, your trusted creative force is to be found in the Duboisstraat 50, 2060 Antwerp. You’re more than welcome to pop in for some coffee and a guided tour. For a sneak preview, click right here.
For the fourth year in a row, Emakina supported “Music For Life“. The “Emakina For Life” team collected 500€ by selling winter drinks and cakes (did I say Glüwein?).
Since the amount has been doubled by the Emakina management, it is a total of… 1000€ that was donated to Music For Life this year. This allows the Red Cross to buy 200 mosquito nets which will help preventing the spread of Malaria disease.
To help the cause, and listen to your favorite tune on StuBru, you can donate on this website.

Our (former) colleague Joy joined our friends of Borderlinx last week. As a farewell gift, he left us with a very cool video unveiling the naked truth about Emakina…
We are living a digital revolution, new technologies have given birth to new means of interaction. Every day new digital tools open new ways of expression for brands, it’s chaos.
Once upon a time we had mass media advertising, brand activation and retail. Then the web and email, display and search advertising. Now we talk viral, buzz and guerilla, RSS, YouTube and social networks, mobile, iPhone and Location Based Services, podcasts, Joost and IPTV, video game consoles and in game advertising, widgets or gadgets, MMORPG or virtual worlds, chatbot or Google Earth, RIA, AIR or Silverlight, digital signage and interactive retail, floor, wall, cars … you name it.
Native to this world of complexity, Emakina fuses imagination and innovation, orchestrates the relevant touch points to build brand experiences that engage consumers… brand experiences that combine stories and emotions to create attention, interest and ultimately desire.
For the third year in a row, Emakina supported “Music For Life“, a joint initiative between Studio Brussel and the Flemish Red Cross. As a result of our soup charity, we collected not less than 800 euro to help refugee mothers and children. Be sure we’ll try to break our own record in 2009.
Hot thursday for Emakina agencies. While our colleagues of The Reference were receiving pride and glory at the CMS Awards, four valiant Emakinians climbed to highest step of the podium at the ViaMichelin Karting Cup. Congrats to our natural born drivers Antoine, Alain, Florent and Stefan.
At Emakina, we’re very lucky to have an incredible receptionist called Régine. A treasure of patience who is always available to help you solve the frequent day-to-day issues you face in your professionnal life. If we add that we’re now about 150 Emakinians in our Brussels office, you can imagine how efficient Régine must be to serve all of us equally.
As we’ve obviously the best receptionist in the world, we created a Facebook group for die-hard fans of Régine. Join us.
Marin has developed a cool Wordpress plug-in that displays the amount of approved, pending or spam comments that are in the admin zone of your blog. Download the file in the Wordpress plugin directory and read more explanations on Marin’s blog.
We already explained on this blog how cool it is to work at Emakina. Not only because of the offices or because of the people, but also because of the worker-friendly environment providing basic facilities (banks, supermarkets…) as well as nice leisure places to hang out (parks, bars, restaurants…). This Google map, created and updated by Emakinians themselves, shows the numerous cool locations around our Brussels headquarters. Microsoft has the Redmond campus. Google has the Googleplex in Moutain View. We have the Watermael-Boitsfort neighborhood .
Yeah, some agencies do great Office Lip Dub, but Emakina always tries to go further. During our New Year’s party at CityScape, between a Junk Food walking dinner and a Geek Casino contest, we had a great live concert from our in-house musical talents !

It’s time to add your boss, your colleagues, your banker, your mother-in-law… to your friends on Facebook. Vincent and Nico have developed a very singular application that inaugurates the concept of “asocial networking”.
At Emakina, we don’t need to hire new people: we produce them ourselves. Longer but cheaper (and, let’s be honest: much more pleasant) recruitment process. Two arrivals have been already registered this month and our pipeline is not empty yet with the next two scheduled at Emakina for November (Brice himself shows the example to the troops), one at SunTzu and one at groupe Reflect. But, even if they combine their efforts, these three agencies will need a lot of time to catch up the folks at The Reference who seem to be particularly good at… well, you see what I mean. Have a look at their impressive delivery rate:
PS : if you’re over 18, we may be interested in your skills anyway. Just check out our open positions here.
Friday 10th August will probably remain as a milestone in the young history of Emakina Group. For the very first time, all the collaborators from our European network (B. On The Net, Design is Dead, SunTzu, groupe Reflect, The Reference and Emakina) gathered up in Brussels to meet their colleagues working in other agencies. First at Flagey (former Belgian radio broadcasting house, we could not dream of a more symbolic place), then at Emakina’s offices for a party all together and finally, at Café Central in the city centre for an ultimate drink that some are not about to forget. To see this more pictures of this event, follow the the “emakinagroupday” tag on Flickr.
With his 15 Cannes Lions won in 2005, no need to say that Belgian creative Erik Vervroegen belongs to the greatest talents of the advertising industry at a worldwide level. When he’s not a the office, Erik Vervroegen is also a painter who will show his work for the first time at the Jonas Gallery between 27th April and 22nd June.
We proudly support this exhibition and hope to see you at the vernissage scheduled on 26th April in the presence of the artist.
